Thanks for taking the time to a look at this, I am not really a writer and don’t really know which direction to go but feel that my story is worth something as all my friends and family keep telling me to write a book, etc. because of what I have been through these past few years. So, I don’t really know, but here goes. My name is Jeff Hartnett, I live in Southern, MD and I am a 34 yr. old male who has been in the Federal Government as a Firefighter since 1990. I was burned in a training accident October 29, 1992 and was hospitalized for 33 days. While in the hospital being treated for my burn, I was being treated by the the Chief Surgeon (Dr. Sendi) who was taking care of me. During my 2nd debrievment surgery (I had 3 there and one final skin graft) he found a mole on my back and he removed it, this mole was on my back and had been since I was a kid, he said he immediately removed it because he knew what it was, and it ended up that it was Melanoma Skin Cancer. Well I had every kind of scan/test possible before I left the hospital and it was determinded that in fact I was clear and Dr. Sendi told me to follow up with an oncoligist. Well, I left the hospital in Alexandria, Virginia after 33 days I followed up with an oncoligist who wanted to start me on Chemo right away, but the cancer was gone accoding to Dr. Sendi I thought. Well, needless to say I went to get a 2nd opinion about it and was told there was no need to do any Chemo and that we would just do periodic scans/tests/bloodwork over the next few years and we did. Well, as a result of my burn I have had a total of 11 surguries to my arm and underwent a long rehab process to my right arm. Now my arm is doing fine, after all the therapies/surgeries. Well, in 1995 I noticed while I was taking a shower one day that my Lymph Nodes under my right arm were swollen and so I went to get them checked and sure enough the cancer had returned it ruturned to my Lymph Nodes and I did have surgery and had 13 Lymph nodes removed and 11 came back with Cancer. But once again I was clear but because it came back 4 yrs later I was considered high risk and the doctors wanted to me start this immunization therapy, well, we did and then 5 months later the cancer came back again, for the 3rd time and hit the liver, spleen and Lymph Nodes again, Well, the doctors said at that point that there was nothing more that they could do, and that I wouldn’t make it more than six months to a year.Well, I had researched alternative medicine/therapy and started taking a product that our government banned years ago along with some other supplements and totally changed my diet <no red meats, sugars, caffeene, dairy products etc> and ate a raw diet of mainly friuts and veggie’s, fish, etc. I juiced and drank nothing but water, I got inot yoga breathing, visualization, meditation and was determined to kick cancer’s ass. And in fact that’s what I would tell everyone, " I was going to kick cancer’s ass" and my outlook on all of this was/is this, No-one came up and inserted Cancer into me, my body developed it, and everyone has cancer cells running through them each day and some people’s including mine are activated for whatever reason, that’s the unknown to cancer, not how to beat it, our bodies can do that if we know how, but the way I look at it is like this, what can be activated can be de-activated. And so I did my thing for 3 months of diet change and supplements and yoga,visualizing, meditating and then I went for Magnetic therapy in June and I compared the scan I had done the week before I left and the scan I had done in march and my tumors had reduced by 50% already, then the treatment took care of the rest and I have been clear ever since. And this was in 96 when I beat it the 3rd time. Well, in the meantime I had left the Federal Government as a Firefighter in 1995 and went to the DC government as a 911 Dispatcher and was there until this past November 2001 when I resigned. Now, I have the opportunity to get back into the DC govenment now as a Firefighter and will take that opportunity if my health issue will resolve prior to the physical forthcoming. <I just took my physical ability test a few months ago and passed and now am in the phase of the background investigation and then the physical and then we will hopfully start by May/June> I have been in the Volunteer Fire Dept. almost 19 yrs (this June) as a Firefighter/EMT. And all my friends and family are all Fire Dept. related. But enough on all of that about me, I have been through what has been Maryland’s nastiest divorce/custody battle. I have done this ALL totally on my own because I couldn’t afford an attorney but not only that, I have 2 kids I have battled for (I filed the case) 3 days of court battling without an attorney and basically made out better than I would had if I had an attorney and really I made out better than anyone I know or has known who has been through a divorce/custody battle ever has. I made out because the Judge knows us unfortunately because we have been in court like 11/12 times and I have been honest as I always and told no lies etc as she and the boyfriend have done/been doing for 2 yrs now. As far as custody goes, Well, she had an attorney and I knew it was unheard of for a layman as myself to go in court and beat an attorney but I truly couldn’t afford to get one, I was hurt and embarrassed, because of it,. But all the attorney’s wanted all this money up front and I just didn’t have the extra to give out.( I was paying temporary court ordered child support or should I say paying for her attorney. So, I knew I was doomed before the case began but I put up a hell of a fight and I get my boys every 4 days, <my schedule in the Fire Dept. was, work 4 days off 4 days> anyway, aside from the cusody/divorce issue (by the way she left me after 12 yrs of not having to work, 2 nice vehicles and a house a good life (so I thought) to be with a friend of mine of which had been a friend (so I thought) for 18 yrs and his wife and my wife were best friends and we actually lived next to each other for 2 yrs before this affair started, but their kids and our kids used to play together and we used to go and do things together etc. it’s been ugly) but again, aside from all that I had to leave the Government due to Racial issue’s in which I didn’t want to deal with, I can’t and won’t stoop to that level of a racial war, I can’t handle that right now and don’t have time for the ignorance< long story> So, I resigned in November 2001. To top that, my cancer is back for the 4th time. I had it the last time in 96 like I mentioned and I was supposed to be dead according to the doctors who wrote me off and said I had only 6 months to a year to live,back then the Cancer was in my liver (4 tumors in my liver and 6 in my spleen), spleen and Lymph Nodes throughout my body. Well, I beat it using Alternative Therepy/treatments and learned so much about Alternatives that I decided that this was the reason I am here is to help people with Cancer, and God was saying " OK Jeff, you have helped people for years in the Fire Dept.and now it’s time to take a turn and help people with Cancer" and so I set out to help people now in a different way aside from the Fire Dept. ( and I set up an 800 number at my house and went to a seminar about starting my own Non-profit organization and already had been networking around the globe and was getting calls about my story and support /motivation/information etc. I was helping people get in touch with different doctors, get different products free or reduced price, free airfare for cancer treatments etc. At one point I was even considering going on to the Montel Williams show when he was doing a show about Alternatives. I have had Sam Donaldson call my house (after I called and spoke to his assistant,this was back in 98 when he came public with his Melanoma) I was going to do seminars on "Alternatives to Cancer" and wanted to travel city to city nationwide teaching people about different Alternatives to Cancer. But my 1st seminar I had set up never got going because I only had 45 seats reserved out of 350 at the Holiday Inn here in my home town and so I cancelled it (I didn’t advertise properly I guess, again I did it all on my own and was trying to save my money backers the cost) and that was in 97, (I had 6 other speakers/doctors and a bunch of information to give out on Alternatives etc. I had everything set up perfectly and professionally) but I never got the seminars off the ground because of financial issue’s. I have wanted to ever since and will one day once I get back on my feet, financially and they are going to be very motivational and just very powerful seminars. Then this whole divorce started in 99 and here I am. I have left a lot of things out as to not make this story more boring than it might be already but I have a burning desire to get my boys in my custody and will because they want to be with me, as they hate the boyfriend and the x is and has been trying to push him on the my boys, she has been lying to them about me etc., He talks about me etc. etc. My kids don’t want nothing to do with him and they know he had cheated on his x the entire 18 yrs of their marriage etc. So they just don’t want nothing to do with him. And now he is with my x (these 2 had this all planned out and she had me kicked out of my house for a few months when this whole thing started and that is what first sent me into Foreclosure < and I am there again because of my that as well as my cancer and work situation etc.> I can’t afford to make extra house payments and pay child support etc.> and then she abandoned the property and stripped me clean of everything, no bed, no TV’s VCR’s etc. all the kids stuff etc. and just cleaned my clock, I just got the boys beds 2 months ago, and honestly that checked bounced and now I owe for that also. Well, in 1995 I noticed while I was taking a shower one day that my Lymph Nodes under my right arm were swollen and so I went to get them checked and sure enough the cancer had returned it ruturned to my Lymph Nodes and I did have surgery and had 13 Lymph nodes removed and 11 came back with Cancer. But once again I was clear but because it came back 4 yrs later I was considered high risk and the doctors wanted to me start this immunization therapy, well, we did and then 5 months later the cancer came back again, for the 3rd time and hit the liver, spleen and Lymph Nodes again, Well, the doctors said at that point that there was nothing more that they could do, and that I wouldn’t make it more than six months to a year.Well, I had researched alternative medicine/therapy and started taking a product that our government banned years ago along with some other supplements and totally changed my diet <no red meats, sugars, caffeene, dairy products etc> and ate a raw diet of mainly friuts and veggie’s, fish, etc. I juiced and drank nothing but water, I got inot yoga breathing, visualization, meditation and was determined to kick cancer’s ass. And in fact that’s what I would tell everyone, " I was going to kick cancer’s ass" and my outlook on all of this was/is this, No-one came up and inserted Cancer into me, my body developed it, and everyone has cancer cells running through them each day and some people’s including mine are activated for whatever reason, that’s the unknown to cancer, not how to beat it, our bodies can do that if we know how, but the way I look at it is like this, what can be activated can be de-activated. And so I did my thing for 3 months of diet change and supplements and yoga,visualizing, meditating and then I went for Magnetic therapy in June and I compared the scan I had done the week before I left and the scan I had done in march and my tumors had reduced by 50% already, then the treatment took care of the rest and I have been clear ever since. Now, I have the opportunity to get back into the DC govenment now as a Firefighter and will take that opportunity if my health issue will resolve prior to the physical forthcoming. <I just took my physical ability test a few months ago and passed and now am in the phase of the background investigation and then the physical and then we will hopfully start by May/June> I have been in the Volunteer Fire Dept. almost 19 yrs (this June) as a Firefighter/EMT. And all my friends and family are all Fire Dept. related. But enough on all of that about me, I have been through what has been Maryland’s nastiest divorce/custody battle. I have done this ALL totally on my own because I couldn’t afford an attorney but not only that, I have 2 kids I have battled for (I filed the case) 3 days of court battling without an attorney and basically made out better than I would had if I had an attorney and really I made out better than anyone I know or has known who has been through a divorce/custody battle ever has. I made out because the Judge knows us unfortunately because we have been in court like 11/12 times and I have been honest as I always and told no lies etc as she and the boyfriend have done/been doing for 2 yrs now. As far as custody goes, Well, she had an attorney and I knew it was unheard of for a layman as myself to go in court and beat an attorney but I truly couldn’t afford to get one, I was hurt and embarrassed, because of it,. But all the attorney’s wanted all this money up front and I just didn’t have the extra to give out.( I was paying temporary court ordered child support or should I say paying for her attorney. So, I knew I was doomed before the case began but I put up a hell of a fight and I get my boys every 4 days, <my schedule in the Fire Dept. was, work 4 days off 4 days> anyway, aside from the cusody/divorce issue (by the way she left me after 12 yrs of not having to work, 2 nice vehicles and a house a good life (so I thought) to be with a friend of mine of which had been a friend (so I thought) for 18 yrs and his wife and my wife were best friends and we actually lived next to each other for 2 yrs before this affair started, but their kids and our kids used to play together and we used to go and do things together etc. it’s been ugly) but again, aside from all that I had to leave the Government due to some personal issue’s. So, I resigned in November 2001. To top that, my cancer is back for the 4th time. ( and I set up an 800 number at my house and went to a seminar about starting my own Non-profit organization and already had been networking around the globe and was getting calls about my story and support /motivation/information etc. I was helping people get in touch with different doctors, get different products free or reduced price, free airfare for cancer treatments etc. At one point I was even considering going on to the Montel Williams show when he was doing a show about Alternatives. I have had Sam Donaldson call my house (after I called and spoke to his assistant,this was back in 98 when he came public with his Melanoma) I was going to do seminars on "Alternatives to Cancer" and wanted to travel city to city nationwide teaching people about different Alternatives to Cancer. But my 1st seminar I had set up never got going because I only had 45 seats reserved out of 350 at the Holiday Inn here in my home town and so I cancelled it (I didn’t advertise properly I guess, again I did it all on my own and was trying to save my money backers the cost) and that was in 97, (I had 6 other speakers/doctors and a bunch of information to give out on Alternatives etc. I had everything set up perfectly and professionally) but I never got the seminars off the ground because of financial issue’s. I have wanted to ever since and will one day once I get back on my feet, financially and they are going to be very motivational and just very powerful seminars. Then this whole divorce started in 99 and here I am. I have left a lot of things out as to not make this story more boring than it might be already but I have a burning desire to get my boys in my custody and will because they want to be with me, as they hate the boyfriend and the x is and has been trying to push him on the my boys, she has been lying to them about me etc., He talks about me etc. etc. My kids don’t want nothing to do with him and they know he had cheated on his x the entire 18 yrs of their marriage etc. So they just don’t want nothing to do with him. And now he is with my x (these 2 had this all planned out and she had me kicked out of my house for a few months when this whole thing started and that is what first sent me into Foreclosure < and I am there again because of my that as well as my cancer and work situation etc.> I can’t afford to make extra house payments and pay child support etc.> and then she abandoned the property and stripped me clean of everything, no bed, no TV’s VCR’s etc. all the kids stuff etc. and just cleaned my clock, I just got the boys beds 2 months ago, and honestly that checked bounced and now I owe for that also. I am still sleeping on the pullout couch- that is what the boys used to sleep on also with me until recently.
